papillary dermis – the layer of the dermis containing the vast blood supply and nerves. This layer regulates body temperature and feeds the epidermis with nutrients. It is also responsible for sensory perception.

radical – in chemistry, a group of elements or atoms usually passing intact from one compound to another, but usually incapable of prolonged existence in a free state.
rejuvenate – to restore to youthful vigor or appearance; make young again.
reticular dermis layer – the layer of the dermis consisting of dense connective tissue and which holds glands and hair follicles. This layer is important in giving skin its strength and elasticity. The protein responsible for this strength and elasticity are collagen and elastin.
rosacea – See Rosacea Treatments acne rosacea or erythematosa; A form of skin inflammation (dermatitis) characterized by red or rosy coloration and the appearance of acnelike pimples. Usually involves the nose and cheeks. It is caused by vascular and follicular dilation.
