keloids – a nodular, frequently lobulated, firm, movable, nonencapsulated, often linear mass of hyperplastic scar tissue, consisting of wide irregularly distributed bands of collagenous fibrous tissues. Keloids occur in the dermis and adjacent subcutaneous tissue. They are more common in non-Caucasians.
keratin – a scleroprotein or albuminoid, containing relatively large amounts of sulfur, present largely in cuticular (skin, hair) structures. Found in the mature layers of the epidermis.
